Beautiful Monday
Some started early with a swim n things...
The rest of us began with breakfast on the Upper Deck!
The weather was absolutely amazing... warm sun, blue sky and hardly any breeze. It was perfect!`
Today we played an Individual Stableford, in groups of three, with longest drive and nearest the pins again... but not on the horrid 12th this time, on the far more inviting 15th!
This was for the Cape Away Day Trophy...game on!
I believe some ladies even used their 50 free practice range ball voucher to get warmed up...
Others (myself included) decided there might only be just enough energy to play 18 holes... certainly none available for practice!
Viv was chief photographer and travelled in the buggy with Di.
Getting ready for the off. |
Lady Cap being silly! |
We sent Hils off first again with the prospect of doing the cards at the end... Lynn and Sue D joined her.
Relaxing waiting for our tee time...
Jan, Sonia and I played together, it was lovely to catch up with Sonia and hear news of her new life in Nottinghamshire.
Where's our third player? |
There she is! |
Annie, Una and Chris |
Jean, Jenny, Bronwen and Dorothy |
I'm sure we have a tan!
The course at China Fleet is long... and suffers in bad weather. For us it was amazing... there were a few squidgy patches that showed us what it could have been like.
Surveying the scene... |
Antoinette, Fi and Ros |
But it was fabulous... all credit to their groundsmen and green staff.
Looking back at the 9th tee |
We sometimes flirted with hazards... |
And sometimes got right in! |
Val about tee off on the 14th |
And it was a beauty! |
There were thousands of primroses around the course...
...so pretty.
After their round some ladies went for a swim or visited the Jacuzzi... the plan was to meet in the Farmhouse Room at 7pm for the prize giving from both days.
Many thanks to Hils and Una for sorting all the cards... and Lindsay for organising the prize money for me.
After a few notices I asked for shot of the Day Nominations...
...thanks Fi!
When our group arrived at the 11th tee (where the longest drive was being marked) I was determined to do a huge drive... did it happen?
Of course not! It went about 20 yards into the thick rough - nowhere near even reaching the fairway!
Fi happened to come through to the tee as this was all happening... and she nominated that drive... The Shortest Drive...for the award... so I will have the Pink Cover on one of my clubs next time!
As I said... thanks Fi!
The real longest drive went to Hils - revenge for yesterday maybe!
Nearest the Pin on the 5th for Bronze was Anne
Nearest the Pin for Silver was Antoinette
There were three twos today, Bev, Lyn and me.
Nearest the Pin on the short 15th down the hill... for Bronze was Ros
Nearest the Pin for Silver was Lis J
Well done all...bottles of wine were distributed for these winners.
Moving on to the Competition itself...
The Best Back 9 was Jane
The Best Front 9 was Chris L
Well played!
On both days we had a "Blue Tee" group... these 10 ladies had handicaps of 34 and above or who were recovering from injury or ops.
In second place was Di (I don't know how you managed to play both rounds!)
The Best "Blue Tee" player was Pam with a score of 21... I think the HAT was key!
We also had a Best "Newbie" and that was Fran.
Well done!
The scores overall were
In 4th place with 26 was Val
3rd, 2nd and 1st all scored 27!! (Cape Ladies LOVE to come in with the same score!)
In 3rd was Claire
In 2nd was Jayne
and the winner of the Cape Away Days Trophy was...
Fi!
These ladies won Monday's Prize money and, with yesterday's winning team and our Best "Newbie", they all won a little Away Weekend ball marker.
Fi gave a fabulous speech... and we all happily took to our dinner and later the solution to the photo quiz we looked at yesterday.
Cheers... was this the noisy table? |
Or was it this one? |
Our Trophy winner! |
What you doin' Hils? |
Serious Conversation |
My friend Jill with Dorothy and Jenny |
