More Catch Up!

More Catch Up!

My last post was about Saturday, we have played a couple of times since then and also had some stormy weather!

Thursday 14th was a Back 9 Stableford with just 6 of us playing. The winning score was from Lindsay with 15 points and Frieda in second with 14. Well played both!

Saturday was a drawn pairs stableford, so we all played our own ball and the score could go in for handicap.

Individually our best scorers were Frieda and Lyn who both scored 33 points followed by Chris L with 30 points.

Well played everyone... the drawn pairs resulted in a win for Frieda and Chris L with 63 points; and in second Frieda and Lindsay with 56!!

Two for the price of one for Frieda!!!

Well played all...lets hope for better weather!!

~~~~~
We had very sad news on Tuesday when Di shared the news of the death of Val Fraser's husband Mike. Known and loved by many.. we are all thinking of Val very specially and send our deepest sympathies.
Saturday Stableford
 Saturday Stableford
Saturday dull and grey and damp... but the intrepid 9 ladies who played today were blessed with sunshine on the back nine!
Hooray for the sun!
Ros and Lyn put their cards in  for the Royal British Legion competition; Lyn doing both the ladies and the RBL and Ros just the RBL.
Everyone found it tough going with no-one playing to their handicap.
We had to use countback of course to separate 2nd and 3rd, both players having 26 points points and Lyn pipping Ruth to second place.
Our winner with an impressive  30 points was Chris D. Well played Chris!
New bunkers
Work has started on the new bunkers; two are on the 8th - either side of the fairway about 120yds or so from our tee box. The other bunker will be on the 7th  on the right hand side of the 7th fairway quite a long way down...in fact my drive on off the 6th ended up in the bunker works!
It will be interesting to see how they turn out and how they impact our play.
We were able to complete the presentation of the  Botrea Bowl trophy to Liz - well played Liz - a super round! (We couldn't get into the trophy cabinet on the actual day!)
Thanks as always to Di for coming to do the cards.
Well done all.
Thursday winds!
 Thursday Front few!
There were just five of us at golf today, it was cloudy and dull but dry  - the drawback was the wind which was pretty strong!
Still it was good to get some fresh air and lovely to see Marion back on the course, we were talking about how hard it is to get back to playing when you've had a gap.
We didn't keep proper scores but Liz was the winner in our little group. We were very glad to have a coffee and chat after!
The windy third!
Long time no see!
 Big catch up!
Apologies for the long gap in posts... I had a visit from Covid but hopefully am now getting back to more normality.
So there's a bit of catching up to do...apologies that it's a bit of a list...and apologies for things I miss!
I left us with the Botrea Bowl and Vets comps...
The Stableford on Sat 12 Oct had 11 entries with Hilary winning with 32 points. Lyn was second with 31  and Lindsay 3rd with 30  - well done all.
The following Saturday (19th October) was a Greensome stableford. There were 6 teams of two; Chris D and Claire won with a lovely 33 points; Lyn and Sue were second with 31 points and Frieda  and Di were third with 28 - again, well played all.
Sukothai
Sue D had arranged for us to get together at Sukothai on Thursday evening - I think twenty ladies were there and had a lovely time and super food!
Many thanks to Sue for the planning - those that couldn't make it were sad to have missed it.
The following Saturday  there were just four players who played an informal front nine with Jenny coming out winner - it was beautiful weather!
  Our numbers remain very low especially on Thursday's - on the 31st  4 ladies played the back 9, Lyn posting the best score of 15, with Frieda in second with 12.
And somehow we are into November!
Saturday 2nd November was the Charity cup; a Texas scramble with 21 entries making  7 teams of three .
Countback was needed of course to separate the top two teams with German, Fran and Ros winning the trophy with a Nett 60
Chris W, John P and Chris D were in second (also with 60) and Frieda, Dave M and Peter C were third with 61.
Well done all who played.
October was a strange month...the weather has been unseasonably mild; there have been many gone down with colds or been away on trips,  but hopefully we will see an increase in our numbers over the next few weeks.
