A wet and windy month!

December 2021

Firstly, apologies for the lack of posts since the end of November...it is now the 7th January 2022 and I'm only now getting round to writing this catch up. The main reason is that there was very little golf and then Christmas and family visits...and the resurgence of Covid.
Anyway, to go back to December... as I look at my calendar the word Cancelled is repeated numerous times. Both Thursdays and Saturdays were either wet or incredibly windy - or both and even occasionally cold.
It meant that we cancelled the competitions or only a handful of stoic ladies came!

The only formal competition that ladies took part in since 20th November was the Jack Arnold Scramble which 4 ladies entered.
There was a fierce wind and it felt like 36 holes not 18! I for one took days to recover!
You can see from the pictures that it was dry...

but the wind was so strong.

The winners were these reprobates, David, Ian and Alan.

We may not have played much golf but we did get together for our Christmas lunch despite not playing the 11 holes first!
The food was fabulous (thanks to the chef and kitchen staff) and we had lots of fun!
The masks came out  again - but not Covid ones!

We held a raffle too which helped our charity fundraising to reach £2000 which is fabulous.

Since then some ladies have played an occasional round but the dawn of 2022 did not bring better weather and our first Thursday was cancelled again!

That brings us up to date - it has been a difficult year for us individually but also as a section our playing numbers are right down. This is largely due to the concerns Covid has brought to us all but also the the really unpleasant-for-golf weather.
However - we did have fun when we could and we all look forward to a better 2022!
