"Aussie Spoons"... also known as
"There was not a lot of pleasure in it!"
"There was not a lot of pleasure in it!"
Blue skies but a vicious wind. |
There was a lovely turnout for the Australian Spoons today but conditions were very difficult (despite the implication of the picture!) and everyone came in feeling exhausted!
"There was not a lot of pleasure in it" was a common refrain - it felt like really hard work. There was a very strong Northerly wind blowing...(I don't believe the met office who say it was only about 14mph!) in fact it almost seemed to be in our faces the whole time!
However, we were out and we all came back with rosy cheeks! Surely it did us good?Eleven pairs took part, twenty two wonderful Cape Ladies.
There was a hole in one to report... sadly not the hole Ros was after!
In fact... it took us our full 3 minutes search time to find it in the bank on the 14th... we overlooked it until Frieda spotted it tucked away.
The scores fully reflect how hard we found it... in third place was Sue D and Jane who scored 26 points.
Countback was needed to separate first and second... both with 28 points. Fiona and Ann came out on top just pipping Frieda and myself.
Well done everyone today - it was so tough out there.
The winning pair can go forward to the regional final competition which is being held at Launceston, however they take the best scores in the county and 28 may not be good enough to get in.
Aussie spoons format allows golfers to play more than one round (even with other partners) should we choose to... so if anyone would like to try bettering the 28 of today then you can have a go; there is nothing to stop Fi and Ann getting out there again and improving their score too.
For anyone playing again, please sign in the book, the cost is £2 per person and the money should go in the box.
Our second league match takes place this week - on Wednesday at St Enodoc - then on Sunday we're off to Dartmouth for our away weekend, beginning with a roll up on Saturday at Cape for those who would like to play.
