Lady Captain's Charity Open
also known as Beware The Injured Golfer!
What an absolutely glorious day - thank you Mother Nature! Even the bunker was celebrating with a pretty pattern in the sand!
We had a group from Falmouth; three teams from our Looe friends and then also several mixed teams with ladies from Cape playing with ladies from Tehidy, Mullion, West Cornwall and Perranporth. Fabulous to see so many players from different clubs.
It was a lovely turnout and the weather was perfect, though dare I say a little too warm on the 15th up the hill? (Although maybe that's an age thing!)
There was very little breeze - the sea was still and we had almost unbroken sunshine! What a difference from last weekend.
Looe team winning best visitors! |
In fact four teams came in with 75 points so our favourite Cape pastime of 'counting back' came into play!
The winner of the Nearest the Line on the 10th was Elsa from Tehidy. Well played Elsa!

The nearest the pin in two was won by Lis J from West Cornwall, she says she was "on the green for one and just missed the birdie putt!"
Well played Lis!
The three winning teams brought in scores in the 80s!
In third place with a fabulous 82 were Antoinette, Fi and Jayne - their score included 9 pars and 3 birdies! Well played you three!
3rd place Fi, Jayne and Ann |
In second place with 84 points were Lindsay, Lyn and myself - this round included 16 pars!
Our winning team, with a fabulous 86 points, were Claire, Fran and Ros - all of whom have been injured on and off over the last month or so.
Super well played with 11 pars and two birdies!

The full results are on Masterscoreboard (thanks again Di).
There was also a fabulous raffle with an amazing first prize of flights to Scilly (winner Mike Hattam). This raffle raised £630 which along with the entry money raised a total of £852 for Sarah's local charities! Incredible - well done Sarah!
And also a huge well done to all involved in the fundraising effort, supplying lovely raffle prizes, selling tickets, buying tickets, inviting friends etc.
There are many a thank-you to be given;
to Sarah for organising the day; to Di for the results and who prepared all the cards (with handicaps and adjustments ready to confirm for folk); to the green-keepers - the course is looking amazing; to the spotters with their umbrellas; to the staff at Cape for serving us out on the terrace with a lovely curry and cake and last but certainly not least to Leanne and Andy whose support for Cape is the basis of everything we do.
Thank you!
