October!

 October!

Apologies for the lack of updates but life intervenes sometimes...but back in the saddle now!

So this is a catch up for October!

The month began with a glorious sunshiny day!

A few of us played on the Thursday and it was glorious to be out!

On the Saturday (3rd) we had another beautiful day and we played a Medal and the Vets Vase - ten of our ladies were able to play.

Well done to Hilary our winner with a Gross 80 and a nett66!

Super score with 9 pars, seven of them on the back 9!

In second place was Lyn with a Nett 68 beating Sue S on countback!

President's Day

The following day, Sunday 4th was the President's Cup which was an individual Stableford for men and ladies hosted by Martin U our Men's President.

We were welcomed by Martin with 8 of our ladies playing in the field of 51.

Once again the weather was kind and we had lovely sunshine.

The ladies winner was Claire  with 37 points!

Captain's Society

Three days in a row! Monday was The Past Captain's Society Greensome and AGM

Hils was Captain of the past Captain's this year so she was hosting everyone.

It was overcast and much cooler than the last couple of days but we stayed dry.

We played a Greensome which is always fun.

8th October

Several off us went away to Dartmouth on the Thursday so missed the next few days at Cape...but 6 ladies played a Stableford on the Saturday with Frieda winning with 34 points and Sue D in second with 33 (on countback of course from Fi!)

The next two Thursdays (15th and 22nd) a few of us played a few holes playing two Mulligans - except for Angie who played a proper round for handicap and won the day's competition with 23 points, from Anoinette in second with 22!

Treverven Scramble

We had 24 players available, 12 men and 12 ladies and unfortunately at the last minute one of the men had to pull out but we tweaked things a bit to cope.

We used Chat GPT to help do a random draw and we were thrilled with the result as teams had 13 or 14 shots.

This Scramble is a Step-aside Scramble, (known as a Florida Scramble or sometimes a California Scramble) played preferably in teams of four  and we were fortunate to have two men and two women in each team -bar that one team.

Due to a late misunderstanding we dropped the cap on the number of drives each player was restricted to - in our group it made no difference as we all took a minimum of 3 drives each but in other groups that was not the case - this will be sorted for next time!

We also presented the Trophy to the finalists of our Knockout Competition.

They played on Weds 14th and had a great contest.

Saturday 24th should have been the Admiration Cup and Godolphin Goblet but it was the first weekend of winter storms with two in a row and pouring rain all day...so it was postponed till next Saturday.
