Apologies...

End of the Year

Apologies all... I have been caught up with family stuff so haven't been at the club when the ladies played... but we did have the Bring and Win... and the Charity Cup on Saturday last...
Twenty four folk played... the winners of the Charity Cup were Steve D and Alan P; the winning ladies pair was Captain Sue and Lindsay, and the winning mixed team was Fiona and Will.

Well done all.

Best wishes to everyone for the coming year... here's hoping for good health; good weather and fun on the golf course in 2019

Eight lovely played in the Birthday Trophy today - it is awarded for the best back 9 score.

Conditions were challenging with a chilly wind but there was also some sunshine!
In second place with a score of 16 points (with a par on 17 but also two blobs!) was Frieda!
Well played!

Well played indeed!

Despite the wind there were several pars out there... Ann parred 12; Frieda parred 17; Lynne parred 12;  Lindsay parred 11 and 12, and also Captain Sue... who parred 12 and 13 and birdied 14!

Well done all.

Twiddling thumbs...

Weather challenges!

The dreadful weather on Thursday and Saturday put paid to both golf sessions... however some braved the conditions to play in the Turkey Trot on Sunday.

The conditions were challenging to say the least but despite the hail and rain showers it proved to be good fun.

We played a Texas scramble; the winning team coming in with a score 60.5, were Geoff P, German and Andy.  In second place were Captain Sue, John P and Mark with 61.7.
Well played all ...for the full results click here.

Everyone went home with a bottle of wine (or the gin or whiskey for winning) - many thanks to Roy and Lyn for organising.

Christmas Lunch

11 Holes and Christmas Lunch

Hats off to the nine ladies that played in the 11 Hole competition today!
Overnight weather had been atrocious with gale force winds rattling our windows, but  intrepid ladies are found at Cape - and despite the weather several were prepared to face the course... well done to those who played.

Sue was all set up and ready and George, Ashley and their team had the room prepared.

It was very nicely done.

Pam had made her beautiful flower arrangements for us too.

Those that didn't play arrived at about 12o'clock and many of us enjoyed George's home-made mulled wine.. (it was very good!)

There was the usual riotous behaviour... especially at this end of the table!

...or maybe it was this end?

It was lovely to see Ruth and Vanessa; Anne and also Val. It is always so good to catch up and we also thought of those who were not with us this year.

To the prizes...

In first place was Lyn with a fabulous 17 points! Captain Sue was second on countback from Frieda - both with 14 points.

Assorted pictures below...

The carvery was excellent.

I couldn't miss out our Lady President!

Jeannie flashing at us!

'Doodling' with the decorations... nice one Di!

And while we wait for the coffee... we had some fabulous jokes from Chris (timbuktu!)...

and Judy... 😄😄... both hilarious!

Many thanks to Sue and everyone for a lovely afternoon and to the Cape staff for their work.

Thursday 6th December

Thursday Front 9

Eight lovely ladies were up for playing the front nine today - the weather was grey and damp but it was mild and those that played were glad to be out on the course.

Three of us (Judy, Pam and myself) for various reasons decided to have a walk instead and enjoyed the coast path to Cape and watched gannets and seals.

For those that played - well done!
The winner was Frieda with a score of 16 points - this included a par on the fourth!
In second place was Captain Sue with 15 points which included pars on 2,3 and 6!
Third was an exact tie between Chris J and Lindsay with 14 points... countback would not have separated them!

It is the Christmas Lunch on Saturday - the meal scheduled for 1pm - it will be lovely to catch up with everyone then - Sue asks us to bring Cash to pay for the meal on the day.

Charity Cup

Saturday 1st December

Today was the re-run of the charity Cup - well done to everyone who ventured out but the fog was too thick and persistent and in the end the competition was called off.

Sue made about £100 for the Alzheimer's charity with a raffle and some generous folk who donated their entry fee to the cause.

Thanks to all from Sue...

and a thought for Jean ... her car broke down on the way over to Cape!
