There were in fact only 7 points between first and last!

Frieda is away at the moment so Di was standing in her place.

In second with 47 points were Di and Fi

And in first place with a superb 49 points were Pam and Antoinette.

Thursday Front 9

Nine lovely ladies played the front 9 Stableford today, we had sunny weather and a bit of a breeze - conditions were lovely - and that was reflected in the scores.

A breeze and these hard, dry course conditions mean the ball runs for ever!!

More catching up!!

Early July!

Since the Club Championships our numbers have been quite low - some folk have been away or playing knockouts, others away at Opens or Invitation days at other clubs and a few are still Covid affected.

On Friday the 8th July the team headed up to Bude for the next League match.

Conditions were fabulous for golf and the course was in impressive condition!

We lost 5-2 but the individual matches were hard fought. Well played team -  Claire, Fi, Fran, Frieda, Ros, Ruth and Match captain Sue.
We were very warmly welcomed by the ladies of Bude and were treated to an amazing array of meals to choose from!

They were short staffed for their catering but did an amazing job! Brilliant!
At the moment Bude are top of the league with us in second places and Perranporth and Falmouth close behind. It is going to be a close run thing!

                                                       July 9th

The following day was an individual Stableford at Cape, there were only 9 ladies playing but look at the winning score!

July 15th
Frieda and John had organised a defibrillator training session for us in the evening and it was excellent!
Huge thanks for organizing it - I think everyone who was there will now be more confident if ever the need arises - we pray not.

We all had a go at doing the compressions and following the instructions from the machine.

Many thanks Frieda and John and your team!

16th July

This should have been the Bob Lynne trophy but Lynne has Covid so it had been delayed until next week.

It was sunny and hot and very windy, so we decided to call it a day after 9 holes. Once again Chris D came first with 18 points on countback with Di in second. In third place was Hilary on countback from Angie and Pam all with 17 points!!

Well done everyone who took part! It was more than a little challenging!

Club Championship

Club Championship

July 2nd and 3rd saw the Club Championship weekend!

It was overcast and damp at the start but the weather improved during the day.

Thirteen lovely ladies entered and once again it was a close run thing.

Unfortunately on the Saturday the play was incredibly slow (plenty of time to take pictures!) and we seemed to wait on every shot.

After the first round the first four  gross scores looked like this!

Super play Hils - well done!

Club Champion 2022 Hils and Nett winner Sue!

Well done everybody who took part! It was a great weekend and huge congratulations to Hilary our Club Champion for 2022!

ps

We also presented Mark with the collection we had made to thank him for all he did for us... always going the extra mile - sometimes literally!

He refused to have his picture taken... this was the best I could do!!!

Baron Rose and Beyond!

Baron Rose Bowl

Well done to our team who played in the Baron Rose Bowl at St Enodoc on Thursday 23rd June. They all deserve medals!

The competition is a 36 hole Foursomes medal and our three teams were Hils and Fran, Sue D and Lyn and Fiona and Frieda. The rounds were so slow... (as they always seem to be) with the ladies teeing off for their first round 40 minutes late and over an hour late for the second round, This meant their meal wasn't until 8.30 and most didn't get home before 11pm... understandably exhausted.

Fran and Hils won 4th prize for their morning round - well played!

The winning team was West Cornwall by a good margin, 2nd 3rd and 4th were much closely grouped.

The Goldenball on Saturday 25th was called off due to poor weather, but the League match against Newquay at Home on the Monday was a fabulous win for Cape 6-1!

The Team were Hils, Sam, Fi, Sue D, Fran, Lyn and Ros. Well played team.

Well done the Cape Team!

Handicap Shield

It is such a busy time at the moment and on Wednesday the team went up Launceston to play in the Handicap Shield (used to be called the Bronze Shield).

Frieda, Fran, Antoinette and Jayne plus their caddies made their way to Launceston...unfortunately there was a diesel spillage on the A30 near Bodmin so the road became closed and what had been the simplest of journeys became an hour longer!

Many folk were caught up in it so the county swapped times around and players went who were there already. This was an excellent idea and for once we played a County competition at a reasonable pace. But the weather was not playing ball and we had huge downpours...especially the later groups who got totally drenched!

Cape came fourth out of the 18 teams entered and the scores being very close. Perranporth won with 224, Tehidy were second with 227, West Cornwall were third with 228 and Cape were fourth with 231
