Thursday 27th February

Thursday Front Nine
There were eight wonderful ladies who were brave enough to venture forth today.
The sun shone but there was a brisk and chilly wind.
Most ladies came back with scores in single figures but there was one who seemed to playing a different course to the rest!!
Coming in with 20points which included two blobs was Frieda!
Well played indeed!!
Second place was decided on countback with Liz and Lyn both on 11points with Lyn winning on countback.
Everyone who went out enjoyed it... Well done brave people (I stayed inside and had a swim!)

Thursday 13th and Saturday 15th

13th and 15th February

No golf was played on either day - Storm Dennis was responsible for Saturday's cancellation.

However we did get together for Di and the Gaiety Girls to present a cheque to Cornwall Blood Bikes.

During Di's Captaincy about £2000 was raised by the golf ladies matched by another £2000 by the Gaiety Girls.

A cheque for £2000 was presented to Cornwall Blood Bikes;  the Riding for the Disabled representative was unable to make it today but will receive a similar cheque from Chris and Di on another day.

Well done Di, Chris and the Gaiety Girls - a tremendous achievement.

On Thursday three of us swam because there was no golf. Some were able to make it to the Peter Gorton evening  on Thursday night and others made it to Leanne and Andy's Friday night... the food was amazing again.

Thursday 6th and Saturday 8th February

Thursday

Ten lovely ladies played the back 9 today and the weather was kind.

In third place was Sue S with 17 points which included pars on 12 and 14.
In second place was Lyn with 18 points who had pars on 10, 12 and 17 and in first place with a terrific 20 points was Chris J with pars on 10, 12 and 14.

Well played all. It was good to be out and also to see Lindsay and I walking and playing half a dozen holes too!

Saturday 8th Feb

We had sunshine and a strong breeze welcoming us on Saturday - with 12 ladies taking to the course. The forecast Storm Ciara was on its way but until the last four or five holes conditions were pretty good.

The wind did pick by the end and we were glad to have it at our back on the 18th!
The shortened 17th which is only 87 yard was straight into the wind and a driver was often needed to get it anywhere near!

In first place was Hils with 35 points. This included 9 pars - brilliant!
In second on countback was Fi with 33 points (including 7 pars) and in third was myself also with 33 (my claim to fame was parring the first four holes... but the shock was too much and I couldn't maintain it!)

Fran is to be awarded the pink headcover for getting a two on the 17th!! Absolutely brilliant!

Thursday 30 and Saturday 1st February Sunday 2nd

Thursday 30th January

Unfortunately there was thick fog at Cape which put paid to any golfing adventures. Some of us swam instead! It's certainly lovely to have that option on a day of miserable weather!

Saturday 1st February

The fog had cleared for Saturday and twelve ladies ventured forth to play a medal competition over 11 holes.

It was lovely to see some sunshine and get out on the course. All things considered the course is holding up pretty well despite the dreadful weather but it was heavy going and the birds are having a field day hunting for creepy crawlies especially on the fairways.
View from the 9th tee

In third place with a lovely 54.5 was Super Sue S; in second with 53.5 was Lovely Lyn and in first place, outplaying everyone, was our Lady Captain Stellar Sarah with a score of 48.5!

Well done everyone.

Sunday 2nd

Unfortunately there were only five ladies able to play in the re-scheduled New Captain's Trophy.

It was grey and overcast but so much better than last week!
It was a Texas scramble with a shotgun start and a maximum of 7 drives apiece.

Starling flock!
Like yesterday  there were a lot of birds pecking at the course...a  lot of gulls but also a great flock of starlings... let's hope it is leatherjackets they're after!

The winning team were Roger N, George H and Roy S with a score of 60.8.
In second were Roy McD, Andy L and Chris W with a score of 61.5 and in third were Martin U, John T and myself with a score of 62.2
