Mullion winter open

 Mullion Winter Open

Tuesday 25th saw several Cape ladies playing at Mullion's November winter open.

We were so blessed with the weather - it was absolutely glorious!

These competitions are well run with a big field playing and a two tee start. There are always nearest the pins on all the par threes, and twos of course, plus a fabulous raffle with prizes ranging from chocolate to fruit and veg!

Thanks to Sam for this glorious picture!

I was fortunate enough to have nearest the pin on the first hole after a lucky low strike but among the proper prizes were  Hilary and her partner Wendy who had a score of 40 points coming third.

Then first and second both had 41 points! If it's Cape...it's Countback...and this time it meant that Sam and Liz were in second with this great score.

In first were their playing partners who were two Mullion ladies!

So, well done Liz and Sam! A fabulous score!

And many thanks to Mullion for their welcome and the super weather!!!

Bob Lynne Trophy

 Bob Lynne Trophy

Saturday 15th saw 14 ladies take to the course to play the Bob Lynne trophy which is a Betterball competition, off 85%, with pairs drawn with a high/low combination.

The draw was done Fi and Lindsay on Thursday and the teams sett off in overcast mainly dry weather.

The scores ranged from 27 to 35 with our winners Sue D and Chris D scoring the 35.

In second place were Sam and Antoinette with 34 points and in third with 32 were Ros and myself.

The format is always a bit slow but we were grateful to stay dry.

Well played Sue and Chris!

Thai and a Me Too experiment!

Thai Meal

Huge thanks to Sue D who arranged a meal for the Cape Ladies at Sukothai!

What a fabulous evening we had. Eighteen of us were able to be there and the food was fabulous.

It was so lovely to have Jean, Sarah and Angie with us to catch up and share time together.

Thanks so much Sue - a really special evening.

The next morning saw nine of us turn up for golf called a Me Too!

It was slightly chaotic as the format was not clear for everyone and, because we weren't sure how many were coming, we played in different size groups! That affected the fairness of the comp so in the end we decided not to award any prizes but put the entry fee into the Ladies fund!

However, it's worth mentioning that Antoinette had the best score when we made a basic adjustment for the group sizes, with others not far behind!

If we repeat the experiment we will try and make the rules clearer 😆 and have the same size groups!

For the group of four it was really good fun!

Stableford and Millennium qualifier

 Stableford and Millennium Qualifier

On Saturday 8th November ten of us were able to play and the weather was still decent! It was cloudier than was forecast and a bit breezy at times but all things considered it was pretty good.

The winter eclectic started today and most ladies signed up to take part.

Underfoot the course is heavy after all the rain and by the time were were half way through the back 9 we were all feeling a bit tired.

In third place with a couple of pars was myself with a sore of 30 points; in second place also with 30 points was Antoinette with three pars,  and in first place with 31 points was Hilary - with four pars!

It was a close competition as so often is the case at Cape. Well played all and congratulations to Hils going forward again for the Millennium Competition.

Long may this better weather continue!

Early November

 Early November

The first weekend of November brought us more gales so we didn't play the medal on the 1st, but Thursday brought us a beautiful day!

Glorious sunshine, a mild breeze and some of us even played in tee-shirts!

Eight of us were able to play and played a Mulligan - in fact we all had two mulligans!

Despite the gorgeous weather six of us scored between 10 and 13 points!!! No excuses - we just weren't any good!!

But two of our number returned decent scores with Lyn in second place with 16 points and Lindsay winning with 18 points!

The course is looking fabulous - the greens are really green and lots of cutting back has been done of some of the wild places.

It was lovely to be playing in such lovely conditions - and well played to Lyn and Lindsay!
