Thursday F9

Thursday Front 9

Thursday dawned to a massive hail shower in St Just... the forecast was good though and that was the only shower.

It was lovely to be out and playing after all the dreadful weather. The course was looking lovely 😄.

Eight ladies came and played the front 9 with Sue D coming second with 13 points and Antoinette winning with 16! Well played.

It was lovely to see Di and Anne for coffee after and Lynne who played several practice holes.

Hopefully the weather will start to improve soon and more of us will be able to get out on the course.  Mark and Chris have done an amazing job considering the weather of the last few months.

Tasty Tuesaday at the Taj

Many thanks to Sue for organising a lovely evening at the Taj Mahal. Eighteen lovely ladies were able to make it and we enjoyed a super meal together.
Thank you!

February Medal

February 3rd

I am almost at a loss for words... but I'll do my best!

Eight (possibly certifiable) ladies turned up at Cape today... many hoping for just coffee but that was not to be.. out we went for a medal round!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         It was windy... it was sunny           and there were showers, some                        of hail!                                                                                      But we had some beautiful                             rainbows!

The course was looking wonderful...

and the greens were fantastic!
Thanks as always to Mark and Chris... the greens were fast and true.

However...
...the golf left a lot to be desired. It was very difficult fighting the wind but we stayed dry mostly and we got lots of fresh air!

Only four ladies completed the round and as it turned out ...only two of them had results that stood!

Embarrassingly... I came second with a NETT 97! I am suitably red faced!

In first place was Hilary with a Nett 88.

For what they're worth the full results are here

Let's hope for better weather soon...

Blustery February

Front 9

First of Feb... sunshine... warmth (no)... calm conditions(no), amazing golf (no)...good company (yes!) and a good walk...yes!

Seven intrepid ladies turned up for golf this morning... and really only one of us managed anything like golf!

But, we stayed dry and surely the walk will have done us good?

The wind was strong enough to knock us off balance and also carry the ball in directions we didn't want...(I lost two on the third tee!) but that being said, it was good to be out!
In second place was Frieda...

but the only golfer among us who got into double figures was our wonderful Lady Captain Sue! Thirteen points today was some feat!

Well done!

New Captain's Trophy

New Captain's Trophy

Sunday 28th saw eight teams enter the New Captain's Trophy competition. It was a disappointing turnout for this Texas Scramble but I believe the recent weather and the course conditions (by that I mean no buggies) may have affected the number of players.

However for those who played we had good weather and it was great to be out on the course.

Thanks to Roy for organising.

In third place were Claire and her playing partners Steve P, Steve A and Jon B... scoring 61.4!

In second were Jayne and her team of Brian, John S and Jon H... scoring 59.2!

And the winners were Lindsay and her team...Steve D, Steve B and Chris... with 58.8!
Well played!

Thursday

Thursday 25th January

There were some wonderful cloud formations today... blown on a strong wind and carrying rain and hail!

Several ladies came to play... and a fabulous four went out while the rest of us sheltered from the blustery wind around mugs of coffee or hot chocolate!

There has been so much rain on the course that it had to be closed yesterday. The bunker on the first is testament to that.
In fact there was so much water on the 13th that Mark and Chris dug a channel yesterday...above the wall on the 13th...

..the intention being to direct the spring of water away from the 13th and down the side...

...it was certainly working with a little stream flowing...

and the 13th green itself was looking fine.

It was certainly very beautiful out there today... and also very very cold.

The four who went out came back in after two holes with icy hands.

Let's hope it will be better for the weekend!
