3 golf days catch up!

 Thursday 12th May

Fourteen lovely ladies came and played a back 9 qualifier on Thursday. There was also a Mercedes golf day too so there were some very smart cars around today!
Conditions were pretty good, a breeze; a little cloud but also some sunshine and it was lovely to be out on the course.
Our winner with a lovely 20 points was Lyn with Fran in second with 18!
Well played everyone - it was lovely to have a good turnout.

There were three birdies (two on 12) but the one of particular note was for Sarah on the 13th where she got a two!
Well played!

Saturday Polglase 3 Stableford

On Saturday conditions were absolutely perfect! There were eleven players competing and five of them had scores of 39 and over!

Just look at these scores!

Huge congratulations to each of these lovely players for such fabulous scores.

Once again there was a two on the 13th! This time it was Antoinette - well played Ann!

What would our handicaps be if we always had such fabulous conditions I wonder...

...our tricky course always has a trick or two up its sleeve so I guess they wouldn't change a lot!

Star Castle Open

Ten ladies played in the Star Castle Open - conditions were ok but the wind got up which made a huge difference compared to yesterday and some rain came in towards the end.

Robyn and Andrew B had organised coffee or tea and pastries before we started which were absolutely delicious!

There were 77 entries with various prizes including nearest the pin on 13 and longest drive on the 8th.

Bluebells by the 4th tee.

The winner of the competition was Paul F on countback from Martin W. The weather had clearly had an impact on the scores and there was a PCC adjustment of two overnight.

Fran and I were the first of our ladies to be found on the list with 36 points in 9th and 10th place, and Fi was our  third lady 17 position with 34 points.

We enjoyed a lovely roast dinner afterwards which was so welcome as the round had taken a long time to complete.

Many thanks to Mark G for organizing;  to Di who did all the results, (including identifying all the players beforehand - finding their clubs and Handicap Indexes to enter on the computer);to Mark and John for the course which was playing beautifully despite our difficulties and thanks to all the Cape staff for looking after us with the meal so promptly at the end.

A particular well done to those who played on Saturday too and some who are also playing on Monday!

What stamina!

Polglase 3 Stableford

 Polglase 3

The competition today (07.05.22) began with 10 players but a sea fret caused problems, it drifted in and out and in the end the competition was abandoned for today and is to be re-scheduled.

Thursday's competition saw 6 ladies play a Skins competition - a new format for many leading to a resounding win for Sue D in her group and a win for Lyn in hers.

Hopefully this sea mist will leave us soon and we can get out on the course a bit more.

St Just itself was clear but a thick sea fog shrouded the coast.

Congratulations!

 Congratulations!

Two lots of congratulations are due!

Firstly to Jayne... a group of our ladies went to Cyprus and Jayne won!

Well played Jayne!

There were also team competitions and the winning team were...

Team winners.

Team second place.

Well played everyone!

And today it was the Silver and Bronze division Spring meeting at Merlin.

There were low numbers entered in the Silver section and by some fluke I somehow won!

In the Bronze section Claire was second and Fran third!

A great result for our Cape Ladies!

Well done all!

Coronation Foursomes

 Coronation Foursomes

Seven pairs entered the Coronation Foursomes on Saturday (we have several ladies away at the moment) and we had lovely still conditions.

Foursomes is always a challenge because you don't play every shot - it is not always easy to establish a rhythm and that showed in our scores.

The weren't awful, just not high considering the good conditions for golf.

Our winning team was Lyn and Sue S with 37 points, beating Sue D and Fi by just one point.

There were just a handful of shots between the rest of us!

Well played winning team, hopefully you will be able to go forward to the regional competition at Yeovil.
