Well done Guys!

Polglase 2

Lucky us!

Every time I play Cape, and especially in weather like today's, I feel so fortunate, particularly when there are so many awful things happening in our world.

What an amazing place we live in and what a fabulous course we have - and... what a great bunch of ladies!

Credit goes again to Mark and his team who have done an amazing job and today the course was looking and playing beautifully.

,

Seventeen Ladies came and played the Polglase 2 Stableford Competition.

The wind did play a few tricks on us... but there was some good scoring.
Winning today was Sue D with a great 38 points; this was made up of 6 pars and 10 bogeys! Such steady play... and a handicap cut of 0.9! Well played Sue, a well deserved win.

In second place was Hilary with 34 points; this included a fabulous chip in for Birdie on the 7th (which was almost shot of the day),  and 6 pars (plus 2 blobs...!) Great scoring Hils!
In third  with 33 points was yours truly with 4 pars and 10 bogeys (and two blobs!!)
and in fourth was Jane L with 32 points. This included a lovely birdie on the fourth... and an almost chip in on the 16th!

Our shot of the day was keenly contested today!
I haven't mentioned that the pink head-cover had been awarded to Brian on Thursday because his chip into the hole on the 15th green had been witnessed by our ladies and it was felt it should be awarded to him!
He seemed rather overwhelmed by the award and reluctant to boast of his prowess by displaying it on his clubs ... however he was willing and he said, honoured, to present the award to today's winner.

As I mentioned, Hil's chip in on the 7th for birdie would normally have won it... but Fran  chipped in on the 17th from down by the granite marker. Her drive had gone into the rough by the marker stone; she decided to take a drop after finding it buried in the rough... and then she chipped it in!

Shot of the day!

Well played Fran, good luck tonight!

An aside...

Happy memories from China Fleet!

Good luck to everyone in the knockouts, I know some are playing their matches already.

Finally, an update on the Charity Coffee Morning... some more donations have come in and the total has risen to £384 .. thank you for all your generosity. An amazing total.

Cape Ladies have a wonderful sense of humour!

Budock Vean

First Friendly

Today we played our first Friendly match of 2017!

Budock Vean Ladies made us very welcome and we played a Greensome Matchplay.

It was lovely to have Angie with us today, playing in her first match for Cape... and she says she'll do it again!

Yay!

That's what we like to hear!

Playing the course was very enjoyable; it was damp but full of primroses and the weather was very kind.

We enjoyed a super meal afterwards as usual...  very, very tasty!

Thanks to Lindsay for organizing the match today, and to all the ladies who played, Lindsay, Liz, Angie, Jan, Fiona, Fran, Sue D and yours truly.

It was lovely that Di came up to watch too and saw some fabulous shots played on to the final green!
A good win for Cape - well done everyone.

Good luck Sue D for your match on Wednesday at Mullion 😃

April Medal

April Medal

Fourteen lovely ladies came and contested this month's medal.
It was sunny... we had one April shower but all accompanied by a fresh breeze but it was lovely to be out.

Only three ladies got round the course in less than 100 shots, Sue D, Hilary and Fran... it was tricky out there.

Our winner was Jayne with an excellent Nett 74. Well played Jayne!

In second place was Sue D with a Nett 77 with a run of pars on 6,7,8 and 9, plus two others!
In third place was Fran with a Nett  78 with a run of three pars on 10,11 and 12.
Hilary was fourth with a Nett 80.

For the full result click here.

The course was looking fabulous... I'm looking  forward to welcoming returning visitors for them to see the difference that Mark and his team have made!
Also welcoming new players to our course... to let them see what a great and challenging course we have.

We have our first Friendly on Monday - away at Budock Vean.

Then on Thursday it is our Charity Coffee morning with the first tee time about 9.50.
Coffee and cakes after 15 holes of golf... with a raffle, bring and buy and second hand books stall.

Long may the sunshine continue :-)

Away Day Tuesday

Final Day

Our Final day at China Fleet dawned cloudy but dry. It looked very grey in places but the rain held off.
We enjoyed another good breakfast on the Upperdeck and emptied our rooms - loading up cars, saying farewell to those who were going back, and gearing up for a final flurry out on the course for 14 ladies!

Sue D, Lis and Jayne led the way followed by Frieda, Liz and Angie...

but not before Angie had posed for her adoring fans!

All three hit fabulous drives... setting a high standard for those following!

A host followed, then me in a buggy, like an irritating mosquito buzzing in between the groups!
Claire, Sonia, Sarah and Jenny

Di joined me in the buggy for a couple of holes.

Jayne chipping on to the third.

Lis about to tackle a tricky shot...
...not a nice lie!

Happy days at China Fleet!

Here I am fans!

Creek at low tide

The sun peeped through from time to time... when this group teed off on the 5th it was shining... and once again... they all hit beautiful drives and would have been contenders for nearest the pin!

The results of this 9 hole competition were lovely... with a special round of applause for our high handicappers!

The winner with 18 points was the Lovely Lynn... in second with 16 points were Fantastic  Fi and Fabulous Frieda; next with 15 points came Super Sue D and Luscious Liz... just behind them with 15 points was Simply Sensational Sarah and with 14 points Angelic(!!!!) Angela.

A lovely way to finish the golfing weekend.

Homeward journeys brought us back to rain and even more gratefulness for the weather we'd been given!

Thanks everyone for a great weekend... lots of sleep needed now to catch up.
