Feb 27th 2016

View from the 3rd Green

Today was scheduled to be a Californian Scramble, but with various people away, (including moving house!) there were just 10 ladies who played. The format was adjusted to account for this and a Texas scramble took place, playing in two-balls, with half combined handicap and minimum 6 drives apiece.
The weather was overcast, windy and cold but the intrepid ladies made their way out on to the course.
Lindsay and Lyn teed off first and were soon disappearing into the wide grey yonder. Numerous layers of clothes were needed to keep the cold wind out but everyone battled through to the end. It was 6C but felt like about 2C - Pam can vouch for that as her hands were icy when she and Fiona finished.
The first 9 were particularly windy but despite that three of the five teams parred the 5th and one team birdied it, well done Claire and Annie!
The back 9 proved easier giving some protection from the cold North-Easterly and though it was wet underfoot it was ok. Four of the teams parred the 12th and one birdied it!
The scores in the clubhouse were very close ranging from 34 to 40; in the conditions this was pretty impressive.
The winning team were Chris J and Judy R with the score of 40. Jane and Ruth were second with 39 and  Claire and Anne 3rd with 38.

Well done everyone who played... and thanks to Rosemary for sorting out the money for us and Di for marking the cards.
Next week, March 5th, is a Stableford. Also, our ladies will be playing their Mail on Sunday competition at Trevose on that day.  Good luck to Fiona, Fran, Hilary, Lyn and Sue.
