Sydney Grose and New Captain's Trophy

A weekend of Golf!

Both Saturday and Sunday were glorious - hot and sunny !

In fact it was so hot it was tough going, especially on the Saturday when there was hardly a breath of wind.

However, seventeen lovely ladies played the for the Sydney Grose Star Trophy on Saturday.

Despite the intense heat there were some great scores.

In third, fourth and fifth were Chris L, Frieda and Fran who all had 37 points - only separated on countback!

In second was Liz with 38 points and I managed first with 42 points.

For me it was one of those days when luck is with you - on the 15th my second shot was heading into the far side of orchard but somehow squeezed between the wall and the wooden bridge post and bounced onto the fairway on the other side!

I was only too happy to take advantage!

It was a completely different story on Sunday when I hardly made the scorecard!

Sunday was the New Captain's Trophy which had been twice delayed but was a fabulous success.

Once again the weather was hot but there was a good breeze which made it much more comfortable.

We played a Betterball Stableford with the men playing off the White Tees and the women off the red; there were 33 teams playing - our first shotgun start for so long!

Well played all the ladies who competed!

Fran and Lyn were in 5th place with 44 points (this included 8 pars between them).

In fourth were Ryan Eddy and Will H; and in third were Keith Holly and Geoff Davies, all having 44 points.

In second place with 45 points were Jayne and Fi (8 pars and a birdie!) and in first place with 46 points were Gareth May and Gary Thomas.

I'm pleased to report also that Frieda won the longest drive on the 6th!

It was great to see the success of the ladies in the competition - once again the handicap system seemed to work very well.

Well done everyone who played over the weekend - especially those that played on both days! And well done prize-winners.
