Catch up number Three! Admiration Cup and Godolphin Goblet

 Catch up Number 3

I have missed a couple of Opens and the jolly to Dartmouth which I'm happy to say Claire won! I'm sorry I don't have pictures...

...but to bring us up to date I need to mention the Admiration Cup and Godolphin Goblet!

There were ten entrants in total, 3 in the Admiration Cup and the remaining seven in the Godolphin Goblet (definitely sounds like Harry Potter!)

The weather offerd a few challenges as usual and the scores were low.

Winning the Admiration Cup with 26 points was Ros, with Liz and Jenny so close behind both with 25 points.

Well played Ros!

The Godolphin Goblet had slightly higher scores but it was clearly a challenging day.

In third place with 31 points was Lindsay, beaten on countback to second by Lyn who also had 31 points.

In first place and winning the trophy was Fran with 32 points!

Well played Fran - a very steady round.

Congratulations Fran

Well done everyone who played.

Apologies to anyone I have missed in these three catch-ups...

Catch up number two! Botrea Bowl; Knockouts and Treverven Trophy

 Botrea Bowl

Nine ladies were able to play in the Botrea Bowl stableford competition in fairly normal Cape conditions with a good Breeze.

Many of us had played a bit too much golf lately... and despite doing the best we could we couldn't compete with kone player in particular!

In third place with a creditable 32 was Lyn; in second with a lovely 34 points was Jenny...

and our winner.... Chris J with a fantastic 37 points!

Congratulations Chris - Fabulous score

As mentioned above there has been a feast of golf lately!
This gorgeous bunch played in the South West Vets competition at Staddon Heights and spent the evening planning tactics!

It seems to have worked as they were in the winnings with second place with 83 points! (The Point won with 84!)

Knockout finals have also taken place... Steve H and I won the mixed knockout beating Lindsay and Dave in the final - needless to say it was a close match!

The ladies pairs final took place between Hils & Fran  and Lyn &Sue.  Lyn and Sue ran out winners in another close match.

The individual knockout final also took place between Lyn and Sue with Lyn coming out on top!

Treverven Trophy

This Californian Scramble had seven teams of four entered and strokes received ranged between 10 and 14.
In third place with a nett 57were German, John Tw, Norman D and Jayne; in second place with 56 were Ryan E, Fran, Sue D and Rob C, and in first place (on countback!) also with 56 were Alan C, Dave M, Andy Cl and Chris D.

I'm not sure who the gentleman on the right is ....?
Well played team!

Catch up number 0ne! Budock Vean and Captains v Vets at Carlyon bay

 Catch Up... again!

I've been away for a few weeks so this is catch-up time...apologies for things I miss!

Friday Sept 19th was the Seniors Open which was mixed this year...and Andy C invited me to play. Very reluctantly I did - absolutely certain that because I had to play off the yellow tees I was likely to score in the 20s...maybe?

After blobbing the first (for no other reason than poor play!) I played steadily and couldn't believe it when I came in with a score of 37 points! That put me in third...which taught me a lesson or two!

 Budock Vean

The following day a group of about 10 of us set off for Budock Vean. We were booked to play on the Saturday and the Sunday and Frieda had made wonderful plans for us.

The drive up there was a challenge in itself because of pouring rain and huge puddles of standing water.

We delayed the start but heavy rain made play very difficult! All bar three of us stopped on the fourth hole - the main reason for Lindsay, Jayne and I completing nine was that Jayne had never played the course. So with halos shining but very wet we completed those nine and then spread everything out to dry!

Our rooms were super and the food was excellent. Most ladies took advantage of the swimming pool and everyone had a fabulous time. Huge thanks to Frieda for organising us and how wonderful to have Bronwen and Angie with us too.

We managed to complete 18 holes on the Sunday but the fine morning turned into torrential rain again and we finished with puddles in the cars!

A special time despite everything mother nature threw at us!

Captains v Vets

It was certainly all go as the following day (Monday) several of us were off to Carlyon Bay to play in the Vets v Captains competition.

Amazingly we had unbroken sunshine! What a turnaround from the two previous days!

The Vets ran out winners - well done Vets Captain Sue... it's been a good year!
