Dee and Ray's Trophy

 Dee and Ray's Trophy

Saturday 23rd saw 18 lovely Capers competing for the Dee and Ray Trophy. This is a Texas scramble with drawn teams of high, medium and low handicap.

The handicap allowance is given according to England Golf guidelines which is the total of 30% 20% and 10% of course handicaps (low to high). The system works well and the shots given ranged between 14 and 16 which seemed very fair.

It was grey and overcast with a really cold north-easterly wind but we stayed dry. The front 9 in particular was quite unpleasantly cold and we kept adding layers! We were a bit sheltered on 12-16, a welcome respite before it hit us again on 17 and 18!.

It was good to get back in the clubhouse to warm up and to see Poppy who had come up specially to present the trophy.

The scores were pretty close and of course we had to use Countback to separate 2nd and 3rd!

In third place with a score of 65  were Sue D, Chris D and Di - a score that included 9 pars and a birdie!

In second also with 65 were Claire, Sarah and Liz - a score that included 7 pars and 2 birdies!

In first place with a score of 63 were Frieda, Pam and myself - no birdies for us but 13 pars (7 in a row from 6-12!)

It was lovely to see Poppy again - thank you for coming to present the trophy and hand out a banded agate for us all to keep.

Well done everyone!
