Thursday 26th April

Front 9

On days like today it feels so good to play golf on our course!

This week the weather seems to have alternated from day to day between sunshine and fog! Well today it was the sun's turn and how glorious it was.

There was a keen wind and even a shower at the start, but that was the only shower and the wind seemed a little less cold by the end.
Blue skies on the 5th
We could see that Mark had made good use of the rough cutter (demo machine) which arrived late Monday afternoon. He and Chris had managed one cut... and would like to do a second. That first cut had made a difference but it is still long and lush, so hopefully the rough cutter will get the thumbs up from management. It would be great to have rough to match the fabulous greens and fairways...the greens were super today.

Anyway... enough wittering ... there were 14 lovely ladies who played today and of course we had to use countback to decide our winners!
In third place was our Lady Captain with 14 points... just pipped by Ros who was second with 14 points.

Our winner today was Judy with 15 points! Well played.

It was a good job we didn't need 4th place because there were four ladies with 13 points!!

There was some good individual scoring among us...Frieda got a 4 for 4 on the third; Liz had three-pointers on holes 2 and 9; Lynne and Val had a 3 pointers on the fourth, and Sue D a 3 pointer on the third.
Well done!

My only claim to fame was what I'm calling a "rough cutter" shot... something akin to an air shot...
Picture if you will, the ball sitting up beautifully in some long rough...  a 7 iron in hand... and swing.

 Result?

It cut the grass beautifully...under the ball!

The ball was untouched... it just dropped vertically down on to the now invitingly trimmed patch of grass in the rough!

Sadly it counted as a shot...so no score on the first (and a few others)!

Sue did the presentation and reminded us of upcoming events. We had a lot of fun afterwards discussing the possibility of a charity swimming gala! Frieda and Liz were volunteered... and seemed to agree to arrange something sometime.. watch this space!
