Treverven Trophy

Treverven Trophy

The Treverven Trophy is a mixed Californian Scramble -  described as a 'Step-aside' which sums up what happens if your shot has been chosen as the best one to play next - you Step-aside and the other players in the team play from there.

It was lovely to have 30 entries so we had ten teams of three. Di was a wizard with the calculator working out 30%, 20% and 10% of handicaps (from lowest to highest) and also adjusting because we played off different tees - (White for the men and Red for the Ladies except 3 and 9 where we played off yellows).

The forecast had been showing a whole variety of dampness... ranging from mist or fog, to mizzle, drizzle and proper rain and we got the lot! But we managed to get it done!

The forecast also suggested it would clear through and those lucky enough to tee off later completed their round in warm sunshine.

But it wasn't the easiest and we had to stop because of the fog at one point, however it was just a brief interval as the fog rolled away quickly.

The scores were really close!

Just 6 shots between first and last and two twos - Fiona, Pam and Dave M had a two on the 17th; Jayne, John T and myself had one on the third.

Countback was needed to separate 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places because they all came in with a score of 64!

Countback put Sue D, Roy and Keith into 4th place; Frieda, Sue S and Will were third with Jean, Geoff and Clive in second.

In first place were these rogues...

...with a score of  62.

This is the third time in a row that Jayne has won this Trophy and John has also won it three times now , so they were good team mates to have!

Well done everyone for today - for soldiering on through the unpleasant bits of weather and for playing so well!

Thanks as always to Mark and his team for the course which is in lovely condition and to  Di for all the help with cards and the results.

Next week if the Flag competition.
