Invitation Day

The 19th September was the Funeral of the Queen.

On the Wednesday a few of us went to the County Jubilee Scramble (Californian) which is a fun competition run to raise funds for the County Captain's Charity which this year was the Cornwall Blood Bikes.

It was a fun day and about £450 was raised which was superb!

Thursday was another windy day and no-one played in the ladies morning. I did walk a few holes with Tylah who works at the club and who is learning to play golf...she is hitting the ball a long way...watch this space ...

Invitation Day

Saturday 24th September

It was lovely sunny day with a very strong wind and we had 18 ladies playing with a guest - players from Mullion, West Cornwall, Truro, Falmouth, Tehidy and Long Sutton joined us...it was especially lovely that Val F came to play -  fantastic.

Lynne and Bronwen did a superb job manning the desk; collecting money, giving out the cards and selling raffle tickets.

Lovely Raffle Table

The Raffle raised £147 for isightcornwall! Brilliant!

The first tee time was 10.30 and everyone followed on, unfortunately the tee markers on 12 and 14 were as far back as they could possibly be which was a massive challenge and somewhat disconcerting but there were lots of positive comments about the course. The strong wind made play a real challenge of course...

When we came in we were welcomed with a celebratory glass of wine - provided for us by Leanne and Andy to mark topping Division 1 in the league!

A very much appreciated gesture.

We had a very tasty spread too.

We had to use countback of course ...with 36 points apiece were Ros and Mel B (Falmouth) and Frieda and Wendy P (Mullion) with the latter taking third place possibly in part due to Frieda's 2 on the 14th!!!!!!

In second with were Claire who won nearest the pin on 17! and Veronique  (Truro)

Angie's partner, Marissa from West Cornwall won the Straightest Drive competition.

In first place with a super 40 points were Fran and Alison G (West Cornwall).

Well played everyone!

There are many thank-yous to give; to Lynne and Bronwen for all their work on the desk; to Di for providing us with the completed cards ready for play; to Pam for the flowers; to the CCC staff for the food and the condition of the course; to Leanne and Andy for the lovely glass of wine; to everyone for the raffle prizes and buying tickets and most importantly for inviting a guest...

And last, but most definitely not least, to Frieda for all the organisation involved.

Thank you!
