Club Championship

Saturday 2nd July

Today was the Club Championship and a Stableford for those who wanted to play just 18 holes. The weather was breezy and overcast; one minute chilly, the next minute warm... jumpers and jackets were on then off again, quite tricky conditions but we didn't get wet.

Ten ladies played in the Championship - well done everyone for completing the 36 holes in one day! It certainly is a challenge and any winner of this competition is worthy of the title Club Champion.

There were many frustrations, with tales of the ball stopping just on the edge of holes and not dropping; of balls going across a hole and not dropping... and of course... the ones that went in and round and then out again!

Having said that, the course was looking good and the greens a little greener.

Two drives!

The picture on the left shows  Fiona and Ruth's drives on the 18th... (Fiona's is the longest). They played like this all the way up the 18th... matching shot for shot and both scored fives ... just a shame they couldn't keep it up on the next 18 holes!

Our Club Champion with the best Gross Score of 182 is Sue D. Well played Sue - a worthy Champion.

The Best Nett score was made by Lyn with 152, just beating Fiona who had 153 and Fran with 154!

What a close competition!

Thanks to Hilary and Lyn for doing the scoring today.

Well played everyone today - long hot baths might be in order!

Next week? Ah... it's just a medal!
