Race Night!

Race Night for Blood Bikes

What a great night!

Geoff had arranged the race night to raise money for, and awareness of, Cornwall Blood Bikes.
Cornwall Blood bikes work as a free 'out of hours' delivery service transporting blood, pathology samples and medication for the NHS to where they are needed.  The deliveries are made my volunteers who are qualified advanced motorists.

There was a lovely turnout for the evening and great fun had! Geoff will let us know how much was raised altogether but it will be several hundred pounds.

One of the highlights for me was the auction race. This was where groups or syndicates  (sounds like the mafia!!) could club together to buy a horse... each horse went to the highest bidder of course.
Everyone stepped up to the mark and got involved.  Half of the money raised in this auction was going to Geoff's charity, and the other half to the winning syndicate.

One of the syndicates included Lindsay, Jan, Fiona Mc and husbands, plus Phil (my son) and Keith.  All of their group put in £4 and amazingly came out winners. Receiving £115!
Their table were on a winning streak as Fiona kept choosing the winning horse - she was amazing!

As most of you know Phil will be undertaking a 2000 mile bike ride from Bath to Rome, to raise money for Arthritis Research and the CCAA, setting out in June and, very generously, our Ladies Charity received a donation of £40 from that winning syndicate!

Thank you!

Many thanks to Geoff and his team for organizing a great evening.
